A Health Canada inquiry* indicates that alcohol is the most frequently consumed psychoactive substance by Canadians. The study also shows that the percentage of alcohol use is higher in men than in women (82% versus 76.8% respectively).
As to illicit drugs, the inquiry* revealed that 11.4% of respondents said hallucinogenics are the drugs they used most during their lifetime, besides cannabis.
